The first day of the annual St. Jude Radiothon hosted by 97.5 Y Country has proven successful, raising more than $29,000 in donations.

The event supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Y Country’s Jonny Reinhardt tells us that over 100 individuals have signed up to be Partners in Hope within just one day.

“Even though St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is in Memphis, Tennessee, they’re sharing their research and their protocols around the entire world freely to hospitals,” Reinhardt says. “You may even have people that are going through cancer treatment right now that are being helped by research that was done in St. Jude.

Over the last 20 years, Y Country has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude, including over $45,000 just last year. Reinhardt says serving the community is what they’re all about on Y Country and this is another way of doing it.

“I’m just flabbergasted by the amount of outpouring of love that we get from this community every single year,” Reinhardt says. “With everything else is going on in the world, we know that we’re that beacon of hope for these children and families that are going through a whole lot of stuff down at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

There’s still time to donate. You can call 1800-942-8709 or text Kids to 626262. You can also visit and donate at 975YCountry.com. The radiothon will continue until 7 p.m. Friday night.
