Reproductive freedoms are expanding in Michigan after Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a package of bills this week in Flint.
Pharmacists will now be able to prescribe contraception. Whitmer says its the latest in a line of bills that strengthen reproductive rights.
“Just last year, we created Take Control of Your Birth Control, which offers free birth control to tens of thousands of Michiganders,” Whitmer said. “So whether you’re getting ready to start a family or figuring out which contraceptive option is best for you, Michigan has your back.”
One of last year’s bills is known as the Michigan Family Protection Act, which increased access to IVF treatments.
