Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Aric Nesbitt is showing the field of potential Republican competitors that there’s money where his mouth is.

Announcing his candidacy on Tuesday this week, Nesbitt’s campaign sent notice Friday morning that he raised $1 million in the first 72 hours since making his public candidacy announcement.

“This major fundraising haul is further proof of Nesbitt’s ability to run a strong and winning campaign to not only win the Republican nomination, but to build the coalitions and raise the resources necessary to defeat the Democrat nominee in 2026,” noted the campaign office’s statement.

Nesbitt is quoted as saying the outpouring of support is indescribable.

“Money is of course a necessary resource in this fight, but it’s just one tool in the toolbox that we’ll need to win in 2026 and put Michigan First. We need a strong conservative leader to put these resources to good use; we cannot squander this chance to reclaim Michigan for the struggling families and workers who have been ignored.”

Nesbitt is the Republican Leader in the State Senate, a sixth generation Michigander, and Hillsdale College alumnus.
