The holiday hustle continues this weekend for many people who will be gathering with family or going to a party.

Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Mike Shaw says you should have a plan to get home safe if you’ll be drinking or smoking.

“Plan ahead to make sure that you have a proper ride home, be it that you’re drinking at these parties or smoking marijuana is the same effect,” Shaw said. “We don’t want you to get behind the wheel afterwards. So have that plan in place to get home before you go out so you won’t end up in a situation like this. The last place you want to be over the holiday is sitting in jail.”

The statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign runs through the first of the year, next Wednesday. Extra police patrols will be out looking for drunk and drugged drivers.
