New judicial assignments for the Berrien County Trial Court have been announced for 2025.

Trial Court Administrator Carrie Smietanka Haney says they’ll take effect on January 6. There haven’t been many changes, though.

Judge Mabel Mayfield will remain the court’s chief judge, while Judge Angela Pasula has been named the chief judge pro tempore. Judge Donna Howard will president over the court’s civil division, while Judge Arthur Cotter will preside over the criminal division.

Also serving in the criminal division will be Judges Pasula, Gordon Hosbein, Gary Bruce, Sherri Frame, and Jennifer Smith. Hosbein will serve at the Niles Courthouse, replacing the retiring Sterling Schrock.

Judge Charles LaSata will serve in the civil division. Presiding over the family division will be Judge Brian Berger, while serving in the family division will be Judges Paul Jancha and Mabel Mayfield.
