The holidays are rapidly approaching and health officials say you should be vaccinated against the flu, COVID, and RSV.

Michigan Academy of Family Physicians President Rachel Klamo says you should be getting those shots now.

When we get a vaccine, it takes our body’s immune system some time to take in that vaccine and build up our antibodies and our different defenses against the disease,” Klamo said. “So give or take about a five or six week window prior to the peak of the season is the ideal time to become vaccinated.”

Klamo says those who are 65 or older should get an additional COVID vaccine six months after the first one. She says the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks.
