Auto sales are a big story on wall Street this week.

Ancora Managing Director David Sowerby says auto analysts hope the numbers are higher than they have been recently.

They’ve been running at a 16 million unit annualized sale run rate for cars and light trucks,” Sowerby said. “That’s still about one to two million below what expectations are, I think, from many of the auto analysts. We’ll also get manufacturing business activity. That for the last year has been slumping a bit, not as much growth as we’re seeing in manufacturing, as we’re seeing in the important consumer sector.”

Sowerby says investors hopes December will be as strong as November.

The S&P 500 was up 6% and small company stocks were up 11%.
