Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that on Thursday afternoon at about 4:30 pm, deputies were called to the 50000 block of 63rd Avenue in Lawrence Township on a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a residence.

When deputies arrived, they found the damaged vehicle and its 21-year-old driver, a woman from Paw Paw. The driver was uninjured. Deputies also located the homeowners, who were reportedly outside of the home at the time of the crash and also uninjured.

The sheriff’s office says the driver had been traveling on 63rd Avenue when she lost control at a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then crashed into a portion of the residence before stopping.

During the course of their investigation, deputies determined the driver had been consuming alcohol just prior to the crash. Deputies developed enough evidence to charge the driver with operating while intoxicated. She was subsequently lodged at the Van Buren County Jail and is pending arraignment.
