Kraken 3, Blackhawks 1 – Jaden Schwartz’s power-play goal leads Kraken to 3-1 win over Blackhawks
Jaden Schwartz scored on a power play 1:34 into the third period, and the Seattle Kraken pushed their winning streak to three games with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Matty Beniers and Brandon Tanev also scored. Beniers made it 1-0 4:18 in the second period before Schwartz’s goal gave Seattle a two-goal cushion. Former Kraken player Ryan Donato pulled Chicago back within one with his eighth goal of the season, but Tanev sealed the game with an empty-net goal at with 19 seconds left. Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord made 18 saves for Seattle. Chicago’s Petr Mrazek stopped 23 shots.

Saquon Barkley rushed for 146 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns, and the Philadelphia Eagles stretched their lead in the NFC East with a 26-18 win over Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. Jalen Hurts ran for the go-ahead touchdown for Philadelphia after he was evaluated for a concussion following a hard hit in the second quarter. He finished with 221 yards passing. The Eagles won their sixth straight since their bye to improve to 8-2. Washington fell to 7-4 with its second straight loss. Daniels was stopped on a fourth-down scramble when the Commanders were in range for a go-ahead field goal.

NFL – NFC-best Lions host Jags, aiming for a 9-1 record and best 10-game mark since 1934
The NFC-leading Detroit Lions host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, favored to win by 14 points by BetMGM. If the Lions don’t suffer a stunning upset, the defending NFC North champions will be 9-1 for the franchise’s best 10-game mark since 1934. Sunday’s game might look like the previous matchup at Ford Field. Detroit beat Jacksonville 40-14 in 2022 at home. The Jaguars are coming off a 12-7 loss to Minnesota. The Lions beat the AFC South-leading Houston Texans on the road, overcoming a 16-point deficit and Jared Goff’s career-high five interceptions.

NFL – Love and Packers look to keep pace in NFC North when they visit struggling Bears
The Green Bay Packers are looking to keep pace in the tight NFC North, while the Chicago Bears are hoping to stop a skid that just cost their offensive coordinator his job. The storied rivals meet on Sunday. The Packers have won 10 in a row and 25 of the past 28 meetings with the Bears. That includes the NFC championship game at the end of the 2010 season. The Packers are trying to catch Detroit and Minnesota in the division. The last-place Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday and replaced him with passing game coordinator Thomas Brown.

NFL – Colts-Jets game features 2nd-youngest QB in Richardson and oldest in Rodgers
When 22-year-old Anthony Richardson takes the field for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, he’ll square off against 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets in a showdown between the NFL’s second-youngest starting QB and the league’s oldest. Colts coach Shane Steichen made the move this week to return Richardson, the fourth overall pick last year, after a two-game benching. Richardson has struggled in his second NFL season, throwing seven interceptions with just four TD passes in six games. The Colts enter having lost three straight. Rodgers and the Jets have dropped six of seven.

NCAAFB – Illinois and Michigan State meet in Champaign, both looking to end 2-game skids
Illinois hosts Michigan State on Saturday. The Illini lost to No. 1 Oregon and Minnesota in its last two games, knocking them out of the AP Top 25 poll after seven straight weeks. Illinois will face three teams with a combined 13-14 record to end the regular season. Impressive wins in all three games, could help Illinois land a better bowl game offer. Michigan State has also lost two in a row to fall under .500. The Spartans are looking for a bowl bid to cap Jonathan Smith’s first year as coach.

NCAAFB – No. 8 Notre Dame has playoff mentality heading into matchup against Virginia
Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman wants his No. 8 Fighting Irish locked into playoff mode when they host Virginia. The Fighting Irish have won seven straight to move back into playoff position and Freeman knows they can’t afford another stumble in their final three games as they try to position for a home playoff game. Virginia is riding high, too, after beating then-No. 23 Pittsburgh last week to move within one game of becoming bowl eligible. Freeman expects the Cavaliers to play with high intensity Saturday.

MLB – Tampa Bay Rays to play 2025 season at Yankees’ spring training field in Tampa
The Tampa Bay Rays will play their 2025 home games at the New York Yankees’ nearby spring training ballpark amid uncertainty about the future of hurricane-damaged Tropicana Field. Rays principal owner Stuart Sternberg told The Associated Press that Steinbrenner Field in Tampa is the best fit for the team and its fanbase. At about 11,000 seats, it’s also the largest of the spring training sites in Florida. The Rays’ home since 1998, the domed Tropicana Field, was heavily damaged by Hurricane Milton on Oct. 9, with most of its fabric roof shredded. It likely cannot be repaired before the 2026 season.

Diamond Sports Group can emerge from bankruptcy after reorganization plan approved
Diamond Sports Group, the largest owner of regional sports networks, can emerge out of bankruptcy after having its reorganization plan approved. Judge Christopher Lopez gave the go ahead during a hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston. Diamond will emerge out of bankruptcy with significantly less debt, but also less teams and networks. When Diamond entered bankruptcy, it owned 19 networks under the Bally Sports banner and had the rights to 42 professional teams (14 baseball, 16 NBA and 12 NHL). The reorganized company now operates under the FanDuel Sports Network banner. It has 16 networks and carries games for 27 franchises (six baseball, 13 NBA and eight NHL).
