With the big election Tuesday, there were state, county, and local races to be decided as well.
In Van Buren County, state Representative Pauline Wendzel was reelected.
Van Buren County elected officials, including the sheriff, the prosecutor, the treasurer, the clerk, the drain commissioner, and the surveyor — all Republicans — won with no opposition. Register of Deeds Paul W. DeYoung faced a Democratic challenger, but still won handily.
In contested elections for the Van Buren County Board of Commissioners, Gail Lee Patterson-Gladney, Kurt Doroh, and Paul Schincariol all won. The rest of the races were uncontested.
As for ballot proposals, the city of Bangor approved a road millage renewal, as did Antwerp Township, and Bloomingdale Township rejected a road millage.
Paw Paw Township approved a senior services millage renewal, as did Waverly Township. Waverly Township also approved a road millage, and finally, the sinking fund millage was renewed at Gobles Public Schools.
