Nearly three million people in Michigan have already voted early or filled out an absentee ballot, but more than eight million voters are registered.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer this week doubled down on the importance of Michigan as a battleground state.

We are going to be the determinant of the outcome of so many elections,” Whitmer said. “It’s going to ride on Michigan. So just reminding people to make their plan to vote. I’ve been stumping for Kamala Harris. I think she and Tim Walz will be a great partner for the work that we’re doing here in Michigan as we look to the future. And I feel good, optimistic, but I think, like so many races in our state, it could be very close all the way to the end.”

Whitmer continues the Driving Forward Bus Tour to get out the vote for Kamala Harris and Democrats up and down the ticket. On Monday, she was scheduled to be in Southfield, Pontiac, Rochester, Madison Heights, and Ann Arbor.
