One man is dead and another injured following a shooting in Eau Claire early Saturday morning.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says it responded to Main Street and Elm Street in the village of Eau Claire around 12:45 a.m. on a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived on scene and found a male victim who was shot and unresponsive with life-threating injuries. A second male victim who had been shot and had non-life threatening injuries was also found.

First responders rendered aid to both the victims and they were transported to Corewell Health South Hospital where one victim was pronounced dead.

Thanks to witnesses, a suspect was quickly identified and arrested.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until notification of family and the suspect’s name will be released after arraignment.
