The property formerly known as Berrien Hills Country Club is planning to undergo a new change, after developers purchased the land for a new development.

Berrien Hills at River’s Edge majority owners Christopher Neuser and Don Miller Jr., both local residents, reached an agreement with St. Joseph Township for a multiphase project that plans to start in spring 2025.

Neuser, the former owner of Berrien Hills Golf Club, tells us the development will feature a new multi-use community with something for everyone.

“We’re looking to turn it into something that’s beneficial for the whole community. It won’t be a basic grid neighborhood but instead have large beautiful open spaces, parks joined by walking trails, water features and a lake with marina facilities. It will be a destination that draws people in from outside the community to enjoy its restaurants, parks, and walking trails along a beautiful lake with sunset views.”

Miller tells us that The Ridge Group, out of Indiana, lead by Tyler Ridge II, will be the lead developers of the project. The new community will feature diversified housing options and space for the community to gather.

Both owners envision this space to become more of a campus, with local people and outsiders coming together to enjoy the parks and views.

“You’ll have various types of housing, some class A apartments, some standalone town homes that will be individual homes,” Miller says. “You’ll have custom-built homes down on the lower area. Ideally you will have some commercial activity on the marina, maybe some restaurants. With all the views and things like that, it’s a real great opportunity to make a legacy for the community out of that site.”

BHRE is looking to break ground for the project by next summer. The Ridge Group will be working extensively with with engineers handling the appropriate paperwork between now and groundbreaking.
