Many native Michiganders spending time in Florida witnessed as Hurricane Milton plowed across Florida this week.
Novi native Megan Engels and her boyfriend bunkered down at a friend’s apartment in St. Petersburg.
“It was loud, it was windy, lots of rain,” Engels said. “The rain was pretty constant most of the late evening and the wind definitely picked up. We were trying to keep it pretty light and have music playing so we weren’t just focusing on the loudness that was happening, but the building’s pretty sturdy. Honestly, even when we turned the music off, you could only hear it wasn’t too, too loud.”
Engels watched the roof on Tropicana Field in Tampa be ripped off by the storm. She says she decided to stay where she was due to so many unknowns about what would happen if she left.
