Two people are recovering after an assault involving a knife in St. Joseph early Wednesday.

The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety says officers responded to a home in the 700 block of Lions Park Drive shortly before 5 a.m. on a report of two people injured with a knife.

A physical fight had broken out between a couple of family members. Each suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Corewell Health South in St. Joseph for treatment. Both were listed in stable condition.

The incident is being reviewed by the Berrien County Prosecutor’s office.

Police say this was an isolated incident, and the community is not in danger.
