Craft Recordings

Craft RecordingsA trio of albums by British Invasion legends The Zombies will be reissued on vinyl on July 31, and the discs also will be available as a three-LP bundle.

The albums are the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ 1965 self-titled debut, the 1965 internationally issued compilation I Love You and the rare R.I.P., an aborted project that included some of The Zombies’ final recordings of the 1960s.

The Zombies features the band’s first two top 10 hits “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No,” which reached #2 and #6, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also includes a medley combining two classic soul tunes, Smokey Robinson‘s “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me” and Sam Cooke‘s “Bring It On Home to Me.”

The I Love You compilation, which originally was released only in the Netherlands and Japan, also includes “She’s Not There,” as well as gems like the title track and “Indication.”

R.I.P. began as a collection of songs that founding Zombies keyboardist Rod Argent and bassist Chris White were writing for a potential new band after their old group’s 1967 breakup. When The Zombies scored a posthumous hit with “Time of the Season,” from their 1968 studio effort, Odessey and Oracle, Argent and White tried to put together a new Zombies album using the fresh material, plus older unreleased outtakes.

The album was abandoned before it was released, but in 2000 it was issued in Japan under the title R.I.P. Among the tracks are “She Loves the Way They Love Her” and “Smokey Day,” songs that Zombies frontman Colin Blunstone recorded for his 1971 debut album, One Year, which was co-produced by Argent and White.
