Paul Simon and his wife, singer/songwriter Edie Brickell, are teaming up with country legend Willie Nelson and his wife, Annie, to spearhead a fundraising music event taking place this Wednesday, June 10. It’ll benefit the Austin Community Foundation in support of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin, Texas.
Called A Night for Austin, the virtual two-hour, telethon-style broadcast will feature performances from Simon, Nelson, Brickell and a variety of other artists, including Boz Scaggs with Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, ex-Fabulous Thunderbirds guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, Vince Gill, John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett, Norah Jones and longtime Bob Dylan guitarist Charlie Sexton.
The program will also feature appearances by Texas-born actors Ethan Hawke, Renée Zellweger and Owen Wilson.
One hundred percent of the funds raised from the event will go to the Austin Community Foundation, benefiting a number of organizations, including MusiCares Austin, HAMM and Central Texas Food Bank.
A Night for Austin will air June 10 at 8 p.m. CT, and will be available to watch via multiple platforms. You can stream it live via Luck Production’s Twitch channel, as well as on the event’s website. Those in the Austin area can tune in via local broadcast TV.
