Bad Company will continue its ongoing catalog-reissue campaign by releasing an expanded, 40th anniversary edition of their fifth studio album, 1979’s Desolation Angels, on January 10.
The deluxe collection will be available as a two-CD set, a two-LP vinyl package, digitally and via streaming services. It’ll feature a recently remastered version of the original 10-song album, as well as nine previously released bonus tracks, including alternate versions and outtakes.
Desolation Angels was released in March 1979 and reached #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured the Bad Company classic “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy,” which peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another single from the record, “Gone, Gone, Gone,” didn’t break into the top 40 of the tally.
Desolation Angels has gone on to sell more than two million copies in the U.S.
The reissue’s second disc includes alternate versions of seven of Desolation Angels‘ nine tracks, as well as two non-album outtakes — “Smokin’ 45” and “Rock Fever.” A different version of “Smokin’ 45” was included in the 1999 compilation The ‘Original’ Bad Co. Anthology, while “Rock Fever” has never appeared on any previous Bad Company release.
