Steve Miller Band has debuted the sixth in a series of previously unheard tracks that will appear on their recently announced Welcome to the Vault box set, a rarities-packed three-CD/one-DVD collection that’ll be released October 11.
The latest track, titled “Say Wow!,” is a fun bluesy song that was recorded in 1973. It’s available now as a digital single and via streaming services; you also can check it out on YouTube.
Also, if you pre-order Welcome to the Vault, you’ll receive an instant free download of “Say Wow!” and five other rare tracks from the box set, which the Steve Miller Band premiered over the last few weeks.
As previously reported, Welcome to the Vault features 52 audio tracks — 38 of which are previously unreleased — as well as 21 video performances spanning from 1967 through 2011. The collection also features a 100-page hardcover book boasting rare photos, a lengthy essay penned by rock journalist David Fricke, collectible guitar picks and other memorabilia.
The CDs feature demos, rehearsals, outtakes, concert performances and five recently rediscovered original Steve Miller Band tunes recorded in the 1960s and ’70s.
The DVD includes two rare performances from 1967’s Monterey Pop Festival, a 43-minute concert that originally aired on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert in 1973, two songs Steve Miller played with his godfather Les Paul in 1990 at a New York City club, and a couple of selections from Steve Miller Band’s 2011 appearance on PBS’ Austin City Limits.
Also on October 11, Steve Miller Band will release Selections from the Vault, a one-disc CD and clear-vinyl LP compilation featuring tracks culled from the box set called. The CD version will feature 13 songs, while the LP will contain eight tunes.
