When you get X-rays when you go to the dentist, do you still have to wear a lead apron? Those are becoming a thing of the past.
Many dentists are ditching the aprons if they have modern X-ray technology. The official dentist of the Detroit Pistons, Dr. Robert DiPilla, uses had that in his practice.
“We used to use film and you needed more exposure time for that film to capture a beautiful image,” DiPilla said. “It’s reverse for digital. Digital is a quick millisecond snapshot and the radiation from digital is far less.”
DiPilla cexpects most dentists will be using the new technology within the next five to six years.
