The city of South Haven has announced Police Chief Kevin Swope has resigned from his position.
Swope, who had just joined the department in January, is resigning for personal family matters, with his last day being Feb. 25.
The city has named Sergeant Pat Carlotto, who is a 25-year member of the South Haven Police Department, the interim chief of police until a replacement is found. The city is currently reevaluating candidates from the previous search done back in early winter to find Chief Swope’s permanent replacement.
City manager Kate Hosier thanked Swope for his short tenure, stating that he made positive changes within the department.
