The top fishermen from all over the world are converging on west Michigan this week for the 2025 21st World Ice Fishing Championship.

USAngling Freshwater Fishing Director Mike McNett says the competition begins Tuesday on Lake Tamarack in Lakeview, northeast of Grand Rapids.

The anglers are from all over the world,” McNett said. “Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway. We’ve got anglers from Kazakhstan, Poland, Mongolia. So they’re from all over the place.”

The West Michigan Sports Commission is also hosting the event, which runs through February 16.
