The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports one person is custody and another is in the hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds while trying to intervene in a domestic dispute.
The sheriff’s office says deputies were called early Sunday morning, just after 4 am, to a residence on High Street in the community of Jones, Michigan.
First responders assisted the stabbed man, a 56-year old who was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. A short distance away from the residence, deputies arrested a 20-year-old male suspect.
Deputies say it appears there was a domestic assault involving the male suspect and a female, then the 57-year old got involved and that’s when the stabbing occurred. All three people are said to live in the same residence.
The Sheriff’s Office is withholding the name of the accused suspect until his arraignment. The incident remains under investigation.
