Carmakers are expecting a healthy year in 2025, but there’s one worrisome word you hear over and over again. That word is affordability.

Even as Honda sales chief Lance Wolfer predicts a healthy 16-plus million sales for the industry this year, he’s concerned about anything that makes vehicles cost more. He says as Honda adds new made in America electric vehicles, the loss of tax credits could have an impact.

Affordability is something that is key, and that impact is something that we’ll have to address as it comes forward,” Wolfer said.

Wolfer says it’s too early to talk about changes in tax credits and possible incentives. He says there is an overall concern about anything that pushes up the prices of new cars and trucks.
