People checking out the Detroit Auto Show are having fun with all of the hands on and interactive exhibits at Huntington Place.
One of the most popular exhibits at this year’s auto show is the Powering Michigan EV Experience, which allows attendees to ride in an EV to see first-hand if that’s a vehicle they might consider purchasing. Powering Michigan’s Future Director of Business Development Jennifer Mefford says she gets all sorts of questions about EVs.
“I’m excited about the conversations this year in the booth,” Mefford said. “Most of the folks that are visiting us either have an EV and want to charge faster or they’re looking at an EV very soon. So they’re very much in that buying cycle and they want to know how do I charge this most effectively at home? 80% of charging happens at home so they’re looking for a level two charger that will charge most vehicles in about four hours overnight.”
How popular is the EV experience? Mefford says that during the 2023 Auto Show, more than 80,000 people took the test drive of an EV on the track, a number they’re on track to top this year.
