Americans for Prosperity has launched a $20 million dollar nationwide campaign calling on Congress to renew President-elect Donald Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
AFP-Michigan Director Tom Golding says the act was was approved in 2017 and changed deductions, depreciation, expensing, tax credits and other tax items that affect businesses and individuals.
“We’re going to be holding events throughout the country,” Golding said. “In Michigan-specific, we’re going to be holding a lot of events with our elected congressional members and educating the constituents on how this tax, these tax breaks need to be extended and how that’s going to affect their finances in the coming years or their businesses and so forth.”
Golding says Congress is facing a countdown to a crisis that threatens family budgets nationwide. He says if Congress fails to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Michiganders will be left paying over $2,000 more in taxes.
