New Heights CCDA is planning a couple of events to help Berrien County residents find new employment.
New Heights Operations Director Chris Craig tells us there will be a job fair at the New Heights Laundry Hub on February 6, but to prepare for that, they’ll hold a job readiness training event on January 30. Anyone can attend to learn how to put their best foot forward when seeking a job.
“We have four people who have representatives from the Women’s Business Center of Cornerstone Alliance, Fifth Third Bank, Corewell, and Express Employment Professionals,” Craig said. “So they’ve all volunteered their time to come in for that readiness training event.”
They’ll cover things like drafting a resume and how to dress for an interview. Craig says those who attend can even build their resume there at the event. Then the job fair featuring ten employers will be held on February 6.
“They’ll all have a table that people can come and talk with them to see if you might be a good fit or fill out an application for employment on the spot.”
Participating employers will include the U.S. Postal Service, Corewell Health, Ellwood Staffing, and Fifth Third Bank.
Craig says New Heights CCDA is teaming up with Michigan Works for the engagements, knowing there aren’t many job fairs held in the Benton Heights area. However, the events are open to everyone.
The job readiness event on January 30 will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at the laundry hub at 2121 Red Arrow Highway. The job fair on February 6 will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the laundry hub. Registration is not required, but it is recommended.
