If you’re child recently received a letter about a recent cybersecurity event involving Powerschool, there’s no need to worry.
School districts across the country on Wednesday were affected by the security breach in which some data was breached.
Berrien RESA superintendent Eric Hoppstock tells us the data was contained and that the data hasn’t been used in any wrong capacity.
“Law enforcement, cybersecurity experts are all involved and are also monitoring,” Hoppstock says. “Those outside entities are saying we have no indication that any of that data has been used in high likelihood that it has been contained and then destroyed.”
Hoppstock says school districts around the county sent a letter out to families notifying them of the breach on Thursday. If new information is brought to light, families will be informed by school district superintendents.
