Following a productive 2024, South Haven is setting its sights on three key objectives to wrap up the fiscal year.

City Manager Kate Hosier shared the city’s goals.

“For this fiscal year, our top three are amending the short-term rental ordinances, two, develop housing opportunities, and three, review beach safety,” Hosier says.

In regards to beach safety, Hosier indicated that the city council is actively discussing the possibility of implementing lifeguard services in the area.

“Council has not yet made a decision as to whether they are going to have lifeguards,” Hosier says. “They’ve asked for more information, and that’s what we’re going to be asking a consultant to help design a program and understand the cost of a program.”

On the topic of short-term rentals, the city is still shaping its approach. Recently, the council voted to extend the moratorium on new short-term rentals for an additional six months while they work on establishing new zoning regulations.
