A Bridgman fitness club has found a new home and is ready to serve its members with expanded space.

Lake Side Fit, previously located at 9485 Red Arrow Highway, just opened its doors at its new location, at 4055 Lake Street, on Christmas Eve. Owners Jimmy and Lacey Lucas tell us they opened at the former location in 2019, renting it, and long had their eye on the new building.

About a year ago, we had an opportunity presented to be able to purchase a new building and at the same time we were growing pretty good to the point where we were just running out of room and the new property was right in town down the road from our original place,” Jimmy said.

“It was my dream building, the one we initially wanted in the first place,” Lacey added.

Lake Side Fit initially offered group fitness training when it opened in 2019, but suffered a blow when COVID shut the business down. However, it’s grown since reopening. Jimmy tells us they now offer group and personal training, kids gymnastics, a sauna, showers, and tanning, in addition to all the usual workout equipment. The new building, which had been vacant for years and used as storage, gives them a lot more space.

It’s approximately about 6,700 square feet. It has two separate rooms in it, and it has a space for 37 parking spots,” Jimmy said.

The fitness center is available to members 24/7.

The city of Bridgman granted Lake Side Fit a ten-year tax abatement to make the move possible. That’ll freeze the new building’s taxes so Jimmy and Lacey can recoup some of the cost of upgrading it with a new roof, HVAC system, electrical equipment, and paint.

With the improvements complete, the Lucases were able to meet their goal of opening the new location by the start of 2025.
