While there is no construction work taking place during the winter, the Berrien County Road Department is still hard at work. Road department spokesperson Adri Boone tells us when they’re not out plowing or treating the roads, it’s a lot of off the road activities to make sure they stay safe.
“We do a lot of various tree maintenance activities, vegetation activities as far as we want to make sure the roads are clear and safe, Boone says.
Besides tree trimming, the department is also taking care of other road matters like taking care of various drainage aspects.
“We might be doing some cleaning out of roadside ditches when it’s more mild,” Boone says. “We might also be looking ahead to some of the anticipated road improvement projects. We can get a jump start some of the prep work before the project actually kicks off.”
Boone says they are starting to plan and get everything prepared for projects upcoming in 2025.
