Donald Trump has already influenced business in Washington, even though he won’t take office as president for another month.

Trump this week was involved in negotiations over federal spending, and Elon Musk was just as involved, threatening to fund primary opponents against Republicans who supported the plan. Congressman Bill Huizenga tells us it really should be Trump front and center.

“We’re going to have to figure out, and the president’s going to have to figure out — President Trump, that is — is going to have to figure out and really assert himself that he is directing policy, not Vivek or Elon or anybody else,” Huizenga said. “I mean, it has to be his government.”

Huizenga says now that Trump has won both the popular vote and electoral vote, he should be able to get things done.

“So I think the president’s coming in with much more of a mandate and he had in 2016 and people are expecting significant changes. They may not like all the changes, but they’re expecting — no one should be surprised that there’s going to be significant changes.”

And Huizenga says those changes are necessary, in his opinion.

With a Republican government coming into power next month, Huizenga says GOP members of the House have been talking about how they’ll proceed pursuing their agenda.
