The city of South Haven has appointed Mr. Kevin Swope as its new police chief, effective January 6, 2025.
Swope brings 26 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as chief of police in Dearborn Heights.
He has previously worked as a lieutenant, sergeant, and patrol officer at the Westland Police Department and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University.
City Manager Kate Hosier expressed confidence in Swope’s ability to lead, citing his experience with diverse communities and strong policy focus.
Swope succeeds Natalie Thompson, who retired in September.
Hosier also thanked Sergeant Pat Carlotto for his service as interim chief.
