Retiring U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow gave her final address on the Senate floor this week. She called for unity.
“We can heal the divide and work together if we just look for that one thing that we can agree on to make our lives better and get it done,” Stabenow said. “And then we can look again for that one thing. If we don’t let the haters divide us, we can rebuild trust with one another and be the America we want to be.”
Stabenow was first elected to public office in Michigan in 1975.
Succeeding Stabenow will be Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, who will take office on January 3.
