South Haven’s annual winter festival is just around the corner! Now in its 31st year, the Ice Breaker Festival offers something for the entire family to enjoy in the wintery outdoors.
South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce assistant director Olivia Thompson shares that there are a few new features for the event this year, including the return of the silent disco.
“It’s not just for one age group, it’s for everybody,” Thompson says. “Also, South Haven itself, is a magical winter wonderland, especially right now with all of the snow. So we have the frozen fish fling, we have the cardboard sled race, we have a silent disco. This year it’s gonna be outdoors in a closed off part of the town. We have the ice rink, which is another huge draw.”
From January 31 to February 2, the streets of South Haven will showcase more than 40 blocks of ice sculptures, a frozen fish fling, arts and crafts, and plenty of other fun outdoor activities.
“We’re going to have a lot of non-profits downtown this year as well,” Thompson says. “The silent disco is going to be the biggest change because we did that, we introduced that last year. It was inside, this side, we are going to be doing it outside. And then hopefully we have snow so the sleds can go down the hill again. Last year that was unfortunate that we didn’t have that part.”
The event is free of charge. For more information about the festival, please contact the Chamber at 269-637-5171.
