Monday’s winter storm led to treacherous conditions throughout Southwest Michigan.

I-94 near Hartford was shut down for several hours due to a pile-up. Michigan State Police say the highway was closed in both directions due to at least 15 crashes and slide offs around 1 p.m. One driver suffered critical injuries.

Video posted to YouTube shows several semis caught up in the pileup. One Coca Cola truck spilled its product all over the road.

Hartford wasn’t the only area of I-94 with problems Monday as a glance at MDOT traffic cameras showed us vehicles stuck in the snow along the side of I-94 in the St. Joseph and Benton Harbor area. Near Stevensville, state police blocked off Grand Mere Road leading to I-94 to deal with a traffic jam of vehicles trying to get on or off the highway. Several got stuck.
