If you’re heading to visit relatives or friends this Thanksgiving, you’ll have a lot of company.
AAA of Michigan’s Adrienne Woodland says the travel period kicks off Tuesday.
“Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving are going to be some of the worst times to travel by car,” Woodland said. “One of the best times to hit the road is actually on Thanksgiving Day itself, when interstates and highways are typically clear. And for those returning home Sunday, if you’re planning to return home the Sunday after Thanksgiving, you should leave early in the morning.”
Woodland says it’s expected to be record setting travel with nearly 2.6 million Michigan residents travelling 50 miles or more for the holiday. 79.9 million are traveling nationwide.
