A trade delegation led by a Detroit businessman is looking to bring new investments to Michigan.
The group is headed by Jose Fernandez, the Undersecretary of State, and the new President of the Arab American Chamber of Commerce, Bilal Hamoud. They’ll be headed to Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates next month with the goal of strengthening the relationships between those countries, the United States, and the Arab American community in Southeast Michigan.
“Arab Americans, where they set up shop, where they choose to live, where they choose to invest in, every community that surrounds it and the local businesses that exist and those from the school level to the foundation level to the public service level, and of course from the economic development level, there is a value add,” Fernandez said. “There is a positive return on investment.”
The delegation will also look to establish Southeast Michigan as a hub for innovation, investment, and commerce.
