A Niles man is facing a charge of assault with intent to murder following a shooting on Monday.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called to the Speedway station on South Eleventh Street around noon on a report of a shooting.

44-year-old Dontae Lavon Murphy of Niles was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of a gunshot wound. He was later released.

39-year-old Alonzo Dominic Davis of Niles was taken to Corewell Health South hospital in St. Joseph with non-life-threatening injuries. After being treated, he was arrested for the shooting.

Davis was arraigned on Tuesday on charges of assault with intent to murder, unarmed robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm. His bond was set at $200,000.
