The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office reports a shooting and attempted murder at the Speedway Gas Station at 1402 South 11th Street in Niles just after noon Monday.

The Sheriff’s office says a 44-year-old man from Niles was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend and treated for a gunshot wound. The individual was later discharged following treatment.

A 39-year-old Niles man was transported to Corewell Lakeland Hospital in Niles and treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The sheriff’s office says the 39-year-old individual was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail for assault with intent to commit murder. No names have been released yet and the incident remains under investigation.
