The Van Buren County Sheriff’s office says there was an eagle rescue over the weekend in Hamilton Township.
The sheriff’s office reports that on Sunday at around 9:30 am, a citizen called in a report of what appeared to be an injured bald eagle near the intersection of County Rd 681 and 72nd Avenue in Hamilton Township. Deputies responded and found an injured adolescent bald eagle huddled in a ditch. Nearby residents said the eagle had been there for at least a couple of days.
Deputies contacted the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for assistance. DNR confirmed that the bird in fact was a young bald eagle, and they were able to safely capture the bird without injuring it further.
The eagle was then turned over to a rescue/rehabilitation center.
