The city of Niles and the Niles DDA is gearing up for its 2nd annual fall festival held this weekend.

This Saturday, Oct. 26, the community will be celebrating the fall season with a variety activities for everyone. DDA program manager Lisa Croteau tells us there will be a few new features to this years event.

“Last year we had done it as kind of a three-day event. We had events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This year it’s all kind of mushed into one day. So we’ll have a bunch of extra folks that are there for the four to five downtown trick-or-treat.”

Festival highlights include the new pumpkin carving contest from 10 am to noon, the 25th annual downtown Trick or Treat from 4 to 5 p.m., and the fall artisan market in the evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

“These events are to get people to come downtown and to see what we have to offer. And I do believe that once you get out of your car and you’re walking around and you start discovering all that downtown has to offer, it’s what brings you back.”

The event will be all day starting at 8 a.m.
