Berrien County is teaming up with Bainbridge Township to repair a damaged boat launch.

At this week’s meeting of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners, County Administrator Brian Dissette said an arrangement has been reached with the township and the county road department to fix the Pipestone Lake boat launch.

We’re going to be working with two separate local units of government,” Dissette said. “So step one, we’ll be working with the township to craft and implement a interlocal agreement. The township will agree to reimburse the county for any and all expenses that are associated with the repair of the boat launch on Pipestone Lake in Bainbridge Township.”

Dissette said the second part of this will be for the county to contract with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for the actual repair. It will need to seek a permit from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy for the work to proceed, and Dissette said EGLE has already indicated support.

Dissette predicted repairs could begin in the spring, saying this work is a long time coming.
