In honor of cancer awareness month, the St. Joseph Football team is hosting their Tackle Cancer game this Friday.

Event organizer Sara Cody tells us tells us this game will support the Hoops for Hope and The Pratley Honorable Mention Foundation.

“Everyone’s been affected. Unfortunately, someone in a life, family member or friend.”

On Friday, the football team will don purple jerseys with their number but with a different name on the back. Players will be honoring loved ones and others that have battled cancer.

It’s also senior night, and seniors will be wearing those jerseys in remembrance of their friend, Mattox Williams. Williams passed away earlier this year after losing his battle to cancer, and would be a graduating senior this year.

“A lot of our football players were very, very close with him. And so for senior night, you know, they walk out and they get to introduce the kiddos. Our seniors will be actually wearing the purple jerseys in representation also to honor Maddox Williams, their friend.”

People can donate to either fund during the game Friday. All you have to do is scan the QR code and donate.
