Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Michigan has moved into a new home.

CASA has opened an office at 53 West Wall Street in Benton Harbor, leaving its home on Niles Road in St. Joseph.

CASA was founded in 2016 with the mission of advocating for children in the foster system. The organization trains volunteers to be by a child’s side watching out for them as they move through the system. Since inception, it’s trained more than 120 volunteers and served more than 325 children across Berrien and St. Joseph counties.

CASA says moving to its new space allows the team to be in close proximity to the Berrien County Courthouse and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services office.

The organization will hold a ribbon cutting this Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber on hand.

CASA Director Kate Rendell Rendell says the move “breathes fresh energy into our mission of equipping our dedicated volunteers, whose tireless advocacy transforms the lives of youth we’re privileged to serve.”
