A Chikaming Township community has been named by HGTV as the most expensive neighborhood in Michigan to live.

The list names the most expensive places to live in each state, and coming it at number one for Michigan is Lakeside.

Lakeside is an unincorporated community of fewer than 300 right along the Lake Michigan shore in Harbor Country. Pure Michigan says it “has been a popular vacation destination for nearby Chicagoans since the early 1920s,” and according to HGTV, the average home there costs $2.6 million. You’ll probably pay even more than that if you want to live along the lake, with HGTV highlighting one listed home as going for $9.4 million.

The Lakeside community is best identifiable by its antique shops and the historic Lakeside Inn, which is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
