The South Haven Police Department says it is investigating reports of anti-Semitic flyers distributed in several neighborhoods over the weekend.
The department says officers quickly responded to reports of flyers being distributed sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning and have identified a suspect. Officers have reportedly made contact with the individual involved, and while no formal charges have been filed yet, police say they are working closely with local prosecutors on the matter.
A statement from new interim Police Chief Patrick Carlotto says, “The South Haven Police Department condemns in the strongest terms the distribution of anti-Semitic fliers found in our community. These hateful messages do not reflect the values of our city, and we are actively investigating this incident to hold those responsible accountable. We have increased patrols in the affected areas and will continue to prioritize the safety and security of all residents.”
Police encourage anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in this investigation.
