The south is bracing for a hurricane that could have effects in Michigan.
The weather being watched this week is a potential tropical cyclone that could be upgraded to a tropical storm. Florida is treating it as an incoming hurricane as it nears the Gulf Coast as early as Thursday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Janis Laurens says if anything, it’s mostly going to hit the southernmost part of Michigan.
“I think potential for impact far north in lower Michigan are quite low,” Laurens said. “All we would see potentially would be a few rain showers from around Friday night through the weekend. Also, because of the pressure gradient with the system, we could see some east winds to about maybe 15 to 25 miles per hour.”
Laurens says this is a storm they’ll closely track over the next week.
