Coming up this Saturday at the GhostLight Theater in Benton Harbor will be the 2024 Manhattan Short Film Festival.
The GhostLight’s Paul Mow tells us this is the third year they’ve hosted the event, which enables attendees to see ten short films and vote for their favorites. They’ll be joining movie watchers from all over the world.
“They have over 500 venues all across the world where people gather for the second ten-day period, and you get to see the select ten finalists in this event,” Mow said. “Past finalists have gotten Oscar nominations and you get to vote at the end of the night. You get to vote on your favorite actor, I think, and your favorite film. Then, we tally those votes and send them to the Manhattan Short Film Festival folks. It’s pretty cool.”
Mow says the films run the gamut in terms of genre, and they are from all over the world. He tells us the festival is like going on an adventure because of the array of stories being presented.
The Manhattan Short Film Festival starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the GhostLight, and tickets are $15. Mow says they are limited.
