The Allegan County Sheriff’s department reports the suspect driver involved in a fatal automobile crash in Lee Township on September 19 has been arraigned on charges resulting from the crash.

According to the department, 40-year old Joel Rojas-Chanito was arraigned on charges of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death. The deceased victim in this incident was identified as 50-year-old Tracey Lynn Decker.

The crash occurred last Thursday just after 10 pm. The Allegan County Central Dispatch received a call regarding a serious traffic crash that occurred on 111th Ave near 54th St, in Lee Township between an SUV traveling eastbound on 111th Ave and a bicyclist. The individual on the bicycle was determined to be deceased upon arrival of first responders. The driver reportedly left the scene of the accident but the suspect vehicle was quickly identified.

The driver of the SUV was arrested near the scene and transported to the Allegan County Jail on charges related to the crash. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors.
